The other day some of my blouse buttons came out of the washing machine quite transparent and minus their pearly surface –bother!  But they were bound to, of course, after their multiple washings.

The outsides of things can indeed often be very different from what’s underneath and inside, but not GOD.  God is the same, not just yesterday, today and tomorrow, but through and through, however multiple the prayers for his mercy and help, however multiple the grace and blessings bestowed.

Although our lockdowned world is beginning, now, to get a little eased, in some ways it can all seem almost more difficult to cope with than at first,  and the whole scenario pretty changeable and confusing. But in God we have a sheet anchor: not only unchanging but inexhaustibly consistent, whatever happens for us. No wonder that the psalmist hails God as ‘the Rock of our salvation’. God was so, back then, and is so today - the One revealed in Jesus - the One who is our refuge, always.
