Our Hall was built in the 1960s and is now in need of substantial external maintenance and repairs.
It generates valuable income for our church as it is used regularly by various local community groups and individuals, as well as a polling station for elections. We use it for Family and Encounter worship and we need it for refreshments and fellowship after each Sunday service, social functions, celebrations, performances and for Holiday Club.
Urgent essential works mean that the Hall will initially be closed during August for renewal of the roof which is expected to cost in excess of £70,000.
Further phases of renewal will be needed for repairs to the ageing windows and wooden cladding.
Other improvements including the upgrading of the toilet facilities and welcome/lobby area are planned and we are confident that these phases will attract significant financial support from a charitable source to sit alongside our own fund-raising efforts.
The church does not currently have the resources for such work and in order to finance the urgent roof repairs, the PCC has agreed to accept a loan on favourable terms which will need to be repaid as soon as possible.
